虽然微软希望消费者够买更多的Windows智能手机，但是市场现实表明，微软这种愿望不会在近期内实现，因此打造一个能吸引Android用户的生态系统可能是上策。
Office业务目前是该公司最大的收入来源之一，这意味着在Android设备上推出Office是必须的，尽管Android版Office免费提供给Android用户，但是部分高级功能和Office 365还是需要消费者付费才能获得。
目前，谷歌Play商店已经提供Android版Office下载，需要用户有运行Android 4.4及以上版本的智能手机。
